Woman Defends Herself with Firearm During Domestic Assault
At Protect Her Path, we stand with women who are forced to defend themselves against violence, particularly in the home, where many feel most vulnerable. The tragic reality of domestic violence often leaves women with no choice but to protect their lives by any means necessary. This recent incident, in which a woman had to use her firearm to defend herself during a violent domestic assault, highlights the crucial importance of self-defense training and access to protective tools. Her quick action in the face of danger is a stark reminder that self-defense is not just a right but a necessity for many women facing life-threatening situations.
The Story
A woman, fearing for her life during an assault by her domestic partner, was forced to defend herself with her firearm. Reports indicate that the couple had been arguing intermittently since the previous Friday. When the woman returned home on Tuesday, she found the man already inside. The argument escalated, and he began to push and pull her off the sofa. Attempting to escape the violence, the woman retreated to her bedroom. The man then picked up a glass candle holder, threatened to use it as a weapon, and struck her. Feeling her life was in imminent danger, the woman grabbed her gun from a bag near the bed and fired, hitting him once. The man survived and fled the scene in his vehicle. Police located him in the neighborhood shortly afterward and transported him to the hospital for treatment of the gunshot wound. He was charged with the incident and is being held without bond. The woman was not charged.
