A 30-year-old man from New Milford was arrested for an attempted sexual assault at the Shops at Riverside in Hackensack, according to authorities.

On Friday, July 26, Craig Herbert followed a woman into a restroom at the Hackensack Avenue and Route 4 shopping center. He shoved her to the floor and attempted to sexually assault her, stated Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella.

The woman managed to fight off Herbert and called 9-1-1. Herbert was captured on surveillance footage, later identified, and tracked down by the police, Musella reported.

Herbert faces charges of second-degree attempted sexual assault, third-degree criminal restraint, fourth-degree criminal sexual contact, and simple assault. He has been remanded to Bergen County Jail awaiting his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack.
